New Year... New Start?

Happy New Year to you all!! It's a new year so therefore it’s time for us all to make a "new start", endless lists of resolutions and lose half our bodyweight... Really? Not here!! We are bombarded with it every New Year about how we should be losing weight and detoxing all the fun out of January. But don't you think January is bad enough without removing any fun from it? Christmas is over, the days are still dark and the weather, well it’s very British! I understand wanting to step away from the excesses of Christmas but personally I feel that we should just use it as a month to readdress the balance. Less treats, healthier meals and less alcohol but without stripping it all out completely. I certainly won't be abstaining this January since I've been pregnant the last two Januarys, I'm enjoying being able to still have my Friday and Saturday night tipple! I have however made one resolution and I think it is one I can stick to. Making one new meal each week either for my husband and I or the children. It doesn't matter who it’s for but it must be something I haven't made before. I feel like we're stuck in a food rut and it's not for lack of liking food, we LOVE food! And I have plenty of recipe books and torn out pages from magazines so there really is no excuses! I plan to update you throughout the year on how we're getting on and whether the meals are a success... Or not! Have you any New Years resolutions?

  1. I like your thinking. Moderation sounds like the best January compromise. And I'll start just as soon as I've finished the panettone. And those 2 chocolate oranges. And maltesers... Maybe it will be a February compromise now I think about it!
