First of my Friday Favourites is our highchair the OXO Tot Sprout chair.
Everyone will have their own ticklist when it comes to highchairs depending on their circumstances. My requirements were:
- I wanted a solid piece to go between the legs in case my baby wasn't sturdy enough to sit up in the chair without sliding down
- A tray that came off easily
- Easy to clean
- Didn't need to fold away
- And ideally wooden
- It's so sturdy without being really heavy. I feel fine leaving my children in it and don't worry about them toppling it over.
- The solid piece between the legs means they can't slide out.
- The seat provides a really good posture. When my children have sat in it they sat with really straight backs - no slumping here!
- Whilst you can't fold it away (which I didn't want) it doesn't take up too much floor space
- You don't need to strap them in once they can sit well on their own
- The tray.... It's so easy to remove! One hand is all it needs!
- It cleans easily
Now the price.... We were lucky that our mother in law provided some of the money for the highchair as it starts at... wait for it... £150! So it's not cheap but I like to look at things for their value. This is an excellent highchair which is very sturdy and we use it 3 times a day every day. I also think that it will resell for a good price when we are finished using it. Just to add a small comparison we bought a cheap one to keep at my dads house and it has reassured me even more that we bought the right one. The cheap one doesn't feel sturdy, takes up a really wide footprint and requires two hands to take off the tray. I hate the cheap plastic one we bought but after so little use I can't justify replacing it with another.
